One of the world’s leading jazz educators, Vic Juris has covered an impressive range of territory, musically as well as geographically. In his lengthy career, he has worked around the world with celebrated jazz artists that include Dizzy Gillespie, Phil Woods, Jimmy Smith, Sarah Vaughan, Chico Hamilton, Dave Liebman, Richie Cole, Mel Torme, Eddie Jefferson and Nancy Wilson. Juris also has his own quartet, with which he has recorded numerous albums for the SteepleChase label. In addition to his long-running Guitar World column All That Jazz, Juris has written two books published by Mel Bay: Vic Juris Inside/Outside: Original Play-Along Modern Jazz Guitar Solos and Modern Chords: Advanced Harmony for Guitar. He currently teaches at the New School for Social Research, Rutgers University, and Lehigh University, and conducts clinics throughout the U.S. and Europe.
